America's Losing Science Brain Power Advantage?

American students have continued to perform poorly in science and technology compared to counterparts aboard claimed the Capitol Hill report. Still the U.S is the leader but other countries like China are investing more money on education and research and stepping up their competitiveness. This is bad for the U.S because the health of the U.S. economy and creation of new jobs depend on innovations. The report, "Rising Above the Gathering Storm", outlined the main problem why test scores are so low on those subjects are due to stagnated federal research funding and a dysfunctional education system. People need to encourage students to go into fields like science or engineering. A new report said that the importance of education needs to be stressed. The only way to solve this, is for schools to improve their science departments and this is hard to do because schools have a limited budget. I guess we will be importing more technology from China and other countries in the future unless the government gives more grants to schools in order to make the needed improvements.

  1. Hey yaya,
Well in the first place we are the future of the United States and if these things are going on now, I dont even want to think what will happen if we cant count on science to help us. It is truly crazy sometimes the government does offer grants but the science field is not to widely popular among seventeen year old who listen to Justin Bieber. lol. I guess in a way it is difficult to gather money but what has happened to the love of education, now it seems some teachers stay for the love of money. (not mr. parra of course lol)

  2. I think the government should invest more money not just in science but in all areas. The government should stop focusing on useless things and pay more attention on the education students are receiving.
