Freedom of the press

In 1733 John Peter Zenger stated publishing a news paper to voice to the onerous policies of newly appointed colonial Governor William Cosby. Supported by his member Zenger kept printing articles critical of the royal Governor. finally, Cosby issued proclamation commending the news paper's scandalous, false and seditious reflections. On November 17, 1734 Zenger was arrested and charged with seditious libel. Zenger wen to trial after eight months in prison. he was defended by illustrious Philadelphia lawyer Andrew Hamilton. after being rebuffed repeatedly by chief Justice Delaney during the trial, Hamilton decided to plead his clients case directly to the jury. After an augment of both sides a verdict was made that John Peter Zenger was not guilt. This has become part of the Constitution that as long as it is not proven false the press have freedom to write about it, this is also known as freedom of the press.

I personally think that freedom of the press is a good thing as long as their are some boundaries. People deserve to know the truth and to speak their minds but there are some limits we have to respect being considerate of peoples privacy.
