Parents argue that redshirting their children is necessary as kindergarten programs have become more rigorous, and with a higher maturity level, children will be able to handle such a harsh curriculum. However, there are some extra costs for parents who choose to follow this path. Redshirting a child calls for an extra year of paying for childcare. Studies indicate that more high-class children are being redshirted due to their parents' ability to afford an extra year of paying childcare.
In my opinion, I think redshirting is absurd. Parents are just holding their children back because they don't want their child to be the youngest/least mature in their grade or "the small kid in gym class." One thing I want to know is: Should redshirting even be allowed? So, my fellow classmates, what is your position on such a dilemma?
I actually seem to find it alright.. I mean its what they feel is best for their child and they have the money for it. So I don't really see the problem. Maybe if the situation was backwards I wouldnt agree. like if they were pushing them higher than where they should be.

ReplyDeletei actually find two sides to this some kids do need to be readshirted because they don't develope as quickly as thier peers. i only find redshirting alright when a child is absoulty not ready to move to the next level, but if thier developement is fine i see no point in holding them back.. ReplyDeleteI kinda feel like children are like sponges.. They learn faster the younger they are. If I was a parent I personally would get my son/daughter an education as soon as I could. I wouldn't waste any time..
